Would You Put A Hotel Here? (The Real 186th Street)
For those of you who thought we were exaggerating the threat of the red car hitting the white truck (see previous post), here is a picture of the real 186th Street as it was after a recent snowstorm.
If you are curious, the proposed hotel would be so tall that one photographer friend of ours estimated that about one-third of the hotel would be cut off from view in this picture.
One can easily note that today, with no hotel, there are a lot of cars parked on this street (more cars than homeowners). This is a product of express bus riders commuting to Fresh Meadows and parking in this area as well as car-owning tenants of 186th Lane who could not find available parking on their lane. Now imagine the added traffic that an out-of-scale hotel would add.
